Fashion’s Night Out 2010: Peacock Cafe DC–Housewives, Party-Dominators, and More
In a recent Q&A with Micky Farivar, the multilingual (and beautiful) wife of Shahab Farivar who co-owns one of DC’s top (and most buzzed-about) restaurants, Peacock Cafe, alongside his brother Maziar, we got the inside scoop on DC’s Fashion Night 2010, and more.
“Fashion’s night out (FNO) started in NYC in 2009 as an unprecedented global initiative created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy and in general put the fun back in shopping!” Mrs. Farivar tells us.
“The Georgetown Business Improvement District (BID) along with a special FNO committee–comprised of style and media-savvy personalities as well as three cast members of the Real Housewives of DC (RHODC)–Mary Amons (Founder of Labels for Love, a non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for various women and children’s charities), Lynda Erkiletian (Owner of T-H-E Artist Agency) and Paul Wharton (Founder of Evolution Look), organized DC FNO 2010 to joined the likes of other renowned fashion destinations such as NY and London.”
Having been a major participant and host in this year’s FNO in DC, Peacock Cafe will be involved in next year’s FNO too.
“Peacock always supports Georgetown businesses. And with Peacock’s type of demographic, it was just a perfect match: We offered a free drink to anyone with a shopping receipt to support the local businesses, and a free drink to whomever had a Labels for Love tote bag to support the cause.
“Over eighty Georgetown stores, restaurants, and salons stayed open for extended hours, and hosted ‘splurge-inspiring’ fashion events and promotions: Sales on new collections, gifts with purchase(s), cocktails, free makeovers, and even block parties,” Continues Mickey. “Furthermore, people were also able to “shop for a cause” and help Labels for Love by purchasing a $10 eco-friendly tote bag and enjoy Cirque du Soleil performances right here in the most fashionable neighborhood of DC!”
So, how did the ladies of RHODC end up at Peacock?
“Most of them have been Peacock Cafe’s regulars for a long time,” adds the mother of two. “And I am personally close to two of the cast members. Mary along with her daughters, Paul, Lynda and Ebong had several appearances in various stores that night, and they wanted to end the night with great food and drinks, where they would also be comfortable.”
With the news of Salahis being fired from Bravo‘s RHODC, we were crossing our fingers that Micky would consider joining the cast and replace the constantly-mocked (and hard to watch) Michaele–whose real name is: Michelle Ann “Missy” Holt–to bring some Persian flair to the show and shake things up.
“As much as the series is one of my guilty pleasures, and as much as I respect and support my friends on it, I don’t think I would do it at this stage of my life.” Micky says.
Well, with the show’s first season featuring the likes of Tareq and Michaele, we can’t really blame her for not wanting to be on the show. (But we can still hope!)
