Gone too Soon: Iranian Fashion Legend Bijan Dies
Nearly 2 weeks after his 67th birthday on April 4th, world-renowned Iranian fashion designer Bijan Pakzad died Saturday after he suffered a stroke on Thursday night.
“Quality, elegance and simplicity are three terms that define Bijan fashion” the designer’s website says.
His by-appointment-only showroom on Rodeo Drive, said to be worth 12 million dollars, has been declared a Beverly Hills landmark and is known as the most expensive store in the world.
Second-term Beverly Hills mayor and good friend to the menswear and fragrance designer, Jimmy Delshad, shared his grief on Facebook, simply writing, “It is with great grief and sadness that I announce the passing of my dear friend Bijan Pakzad. He was an exceptional person and he will be greatly missed.”
A major player in the fashion industry for 30 years, Bijan dressed some of the most famous and most powerful people in the world.
“The world said to conform, the world said to settle for less, the world said to compromise and no one would know… so I made my own world.” The website quotes Bijan as saying.
He will be missed.
Rest in peace Bijan.
