Held at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London during Frieze Week, the MOP CAP 2013 Finalists’ Exhibition features works by seven emerging Iranian artists, selected by an international judging panel from a shortlist of 19.
The Finalists’ Exhibition includes works in a diverse range of media including video, installation and photography, submitted by the artists who live and work both in and outside of Iran.
Chosen by the MOP CAP Selection Committee from over 280 applicants who responded to the online open call, the 19 shortlisted artists showcased their work at an exhibition in Dubai in March 2013.
MOP CAP 2013 Finalists include: Claudia Parwaneh Djabbari, Negar Farajiani, Azin Feizabadi, Mahmoud Mahroumi, Bijan Moosavi, Anahita Norouzi, and Behnam Sadighi.
The Winner will be selected by a judging panel comprised of experts in contemporary Iranian and international art, including: Philippa Adams Senior Director of the Saatchi Gallery, London; Dr. Ziba Ardalan Founder, Director and Curator of Parasol unit foundation for contemporary art, London; Mat Collishaw Artist; Dr. Anthony Downey Director of the Master’s in Contemporary Art, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London; Irit Rogoff Writer, Theorist and Professor of Visual Cultures, Goldsmith’s College, London; Payam Sharifi Co-founder Slavs and Tatars.
The MOP CAP 2013 winner will be announced by Dr. Anthony Downey, Chair of the Judging Panel, at the Bridge of Persia Fundraising Auction Gala on Monday 14 October, at the Royal College of Art.
The Winnerwill be awarded a yearlong mentorship with a curator, resulting in a solo-exhibition at a leading gallery space in London; as well as a three-month residency at the Delfina Foundation.
MOP CAP is dedicated to the development and establishment of the careers and profiles of the next generation of Iranian artists.
