ASMR–or what some refer to as “ear porn” or “head orgasm”–stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response: A euphoric experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine, resulting in relaxation.
Not all ASMR is solely audio-induced however, and can be accompanied by visual stimuli.
If you have experienced ASMR and know your triggers, then you know what we are talking about…If you haven’t experienced ASMR, then not to worry, you’re not alone: ASMR is not felt by everyone and is believed to be a subjective sensation.
ASMR is not just for the relaxation-obsessed and is believed to be helpful to people with insomnia or anxiety as well.
Check out this somewhat NSFW whisper video sent to us by Persian ASMR Youtube content creator, Hungry Lips–whose videos are typically quite sexually suggestive–, eating homemade Persian food (salmon kabob, Persian rice, tahdig, mast-moosir, and salad shirazi) below to see whether you are able to sense any tingles from the ASMR phenomenon.
